| Original medium as described by R. Ernst in 1992. This medium is a modification |
| of GD-Thomale. It does not contain plant growth regulators! The banana content |
| is said to be not supporting Paphiopedilum germination, but replating of seedlings. |
| Tests in our lab, however, have shown that it also promotes germination. |

| Instant powder, quantity for desired volume of medium sealed in heavy-duty light-proof |
| plastic bag. To be used immediately after opening. Simple medium preparation: |
| just add the powder to near boiling water, stir to avoid clumping, add water up to final |
| volume, if dispensed into several culture vessels first heat until gelling agent is dissolved, |
| fill into vessels, autoclave and let the medium cool down to be ready for use. |
