L10087  RE-Paphiopedilum medium, complete

Complete medium for sowing species and hybrids of Paphiopedilum.
Robert Ernst has developed this medium based on GD-Thomale for the
sowing of Paphiopedilum. The banana content is said by some to be
not supporting Paphiopedilum germination and would only be useful for
replating seedlings. Tests in our lab, however, confirmed, that at least for
some species (e.g. Paphiopedilum henryanum) a very good germination
could be achieved on this medium from ripe seed treated as a typical
standard with 0.5 % NaOCl. Note: The content of iron salt without
chelating agent is sufficient for germination purposes, but for replating
it is recommended to add chelating agent or additional chelated iron.
