This is the original mix of 3 vitamins, the amino acid glycine and |
the sugar alcohol myo-inositol as described by Toshio Murashige |
and Folke Skoog in their classic paper on a revised medium for |
tobacco tissue cultures in Physiologia Plantarumvol. 15, on |
page 485, published 1962. This medium, today known as MS, |
has proven to be of universal value in tissue culture of most plants. |
The level of the 3 vitamins is relatively low and likely losses due |
to co-autoclaving with the other ingredients of the medium are |
high. The addition of myo-inositol was explicitly mentioned by |
Murashige and Skoog as promoting growth. |

This vitamin mix is provided as a powder and should be used |
